India’s improving equity valuations overshadowed by inflation

In the current environment fund managers are in no rush to buy shares in India where inflation recently hit a 13 year high - rising above already downbeat forecasts - but they are eagerly awaiting the buying opportunities likely to emerge in the months ahead. The market has fallen 30% since January and, it seems, has got further to go. Unsurprisingly fund managers are still hugely optimistic over the long-term propsects for India’s economy and will be looking to get in on the infrastructure roll out as it begins to materialise. But the near-term environment is simply too clouded with uncertainties.
